On January 10th, the World Broadband Association (WBBA) Member Forum (China) was held in Beijing. Themed "About Collaboration and Future" the meeting brought together over 80 representatives from nearly 40 enterprises, including China Telecom, China Unicom, the China Communications Standards Association, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE, CICT, YOFC, China Unitechs, and Ultrapower, to jointly explore effective paths for the high-quality development of the association and to have an in-depth exchange on how to contribute Chinese strength and wisdom to the development of the global cloud broadband industry.

Nan Xinsheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Communications Standards Association, delivered the opening speech, profoundly elaborating on the importance of cloud broadband infrastructure as the foundation of global digital economic development. He analyzed the current challenges faced by the industry and emphasized the important role of WBBA in promoting the construction and development of cloud broadband infrastructure, as well as in bridging the digital divide. He hoped that WBBA members in China would work together to promote the excellent achievements and experiences of China's information and communication industry to the world, writing a new chapter for Chinese communication technology on the international stage.

Liu Zhiyong, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Telecom, shared the positive progress made by WBBA in high-quality association building, high-standard international cooperation, and high-level scientific and technological innovation. The association successfully held multiple Broadband Development Congresses (BDC) in 2024 and established the Broadband Excellence Award, effectively promoting industrial development and scientific and technological progress. In 2025, WBBA will join other international organizations to jointly issue a global cloud broadband development initiative and hold the BDC Summit for the first time in South America, continuously expanding its global influence.

Mark Oliver, Vice President, Strategic Consulting of Omdia, summarized the development highlights of the association in 2024 with some numbers: the number of members reached 160, four global summits were held, member satisfaction reached 85%, and seven working groups conducted industrial research. He pointed out that in 2025, the association will focus on creating higher value for members, further increasing the enthusiasm of members to participate in association activities, and continuously attracting influential members to join.

Wang Han, Executive Committee Member of WBBA and Manager of Huawei's WBBA System Department, introduced in detail the research conducted by the seven working groups of the association, emphasizing that by actively participating in working groups, members can not only gain more overseas development opportunities but also learn from the excellent experiences of other countries and regions in the world, effectively promoting the high-quality development of member units.

Liu Jun, a member representative of WBBA and General Manager of China Unitechs, introduced that as a DICT professional software and hardware and technology service provider, China Unitechs has actively participated in various activities organized by the association since joining WBBA in 2023. In the future, it will contribute to the development of the global cloud broadband industry from three aspects: leading industrial development with technological advantages, strengthening cooperation mechanisms, and promoting international exchanges through the platform.

Wang Xiaojun, Technical President of Ultrapower Operator Business Group and a member representative of WBBA, believes that the future network will be virtualized, with cloud and broadband deeply integrated, and intelligence and openness becoming new development trends. Ultrapower will work with WBBA and many industrial partners to promote the all-round application of digital and intelligent technologies in the field of cloud broadband, achieve new developments in the intelligence of broadband networks, and jointly explore the infinite possibilities of the digital future.

During the free discussion session, members such as H3C, Raisecom, Eversec, DataCanvas discussed around issues such as the opportunities and challenges faced by the development of the global cloud broadband industry, building the core value of the association, and enhancing global influence for an in-depth discussion. The representatives unanimously believed that the construction and development of global cloud broadband are rapid, but also face problems such as long investment return cycles and increased volume without increased income. The international platform of WBBA should be fully utilized to share excellent industry cases and quickly promote successful experiences. WBBA should continue to adhere to the development concept of openness, equality, and inclusiveness, further attracting global and full-industry-chain members to join and jointly contribute to bridging the digital divide and promoting the prosperity of the cloud broadband industry.

Li Zhengmao, Chairman of the WBBA Board of Directors, delivered the closing speech. He stated that the active participation and strong support of members have made every great progress of WBBA. The association continues to focus on cloud broadband industry research and publishes white papers that lead industrial development and standard setting, such as fixed network generational evolution and network intelligent upgrade. In 2025, the association will add research work on wireless broadband, WiFi, and industrial Internet, deepen cooperation with international organizations such as ITU and GSMA, and explore the establishment of joint innovation centers to promote the inclusive development of the global cloud broadband industry.

The successful holding of this WBBA Member Forum (China) effectively promoted the exchange and cooperation among China Region members, enhanced the enthusiasm of members to participate in the construction and development of the association, and also provided valuable guidance for the future development of WBBA. WBBA will adopt suggestions from all parties, continuously promote the growth and development of the association, and make greater contributions to the global cloud broadband industry.
